Re: Diabetes and mental health

Sounds tricky @Shaz51 . When you try to 'fix' one thing, then the other goes a bit haywire, eh? Hope you are okay.

I'm heading off but I wanted to come past and say hi.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

I'll need to watch my carbs more as I've backslid lately @Shaz51 . Must go back to healthier snacks.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Hi @Dimity 🙂 I didn't know you had pre-diabetes earlier this year...it sounds like you have been disciplined and are now back to normal levels?

Hi @SmilingGecko , yes I developed diabetes 15 years ago when I spent 3 years in bed due to a severe nervous breakdown. I didn't care about the diabetes back then as I was only concerned with trying to stay alive due to intense SI.

After your talk of tablets that can cause diabetes @Dimity  and @SmilingGecko  I googled them, and saw that I am on 3 types of tablets that cause diabetes, for my asthma, high blood pressure and cholesterol! So thank you - I will bring at least one of those up to my GP. (Not the asthma one though as I have severe asthma)

I am a food addict so don't follow any good healthy eating rules...I am lucky so far not to be on insulin.

Hi @tyme , I'm sorry to hear you have arthritis 😢 I do too, so I can empathise.

Hi @Shaz51  🙂

Re: Diabetes and mental health

I know what you mean @NatureLover  I had severe depression once after my first hospitalisation and I could not leave my bed. Must have slept the whole year. My Dad didn't even judge me, he knew something was wrong because before that I was really physically active with exercise. Same thing for 8 years on a rotten depot injection. Was experiencing severe exhaustion because of it.  I'm really active nowadays though. I'm doing well with my diabetes relatively speaking. Blood sugar this morning was 5.7 - not too bad. Will get out and exercise today. Wish I could get blood sugars lower. I've found if I eat organic produce I eat less as theres no empty c@lories.  Here is a you tube video on how to change a habit. It might help shift things with food in your life. Its been put together by a traditional chinese doctor. I hope you love what he has to offer, it all makes sense to me. He posted it the other day.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

@Shaz51 oh your poor thing! So sorry to hear. I hope your specialist and doctor can do something for you. I know I feel downhearted with my diabetes if I have a spike in blood sugar levels ❤️ Its hard but at least I have my blood glucose machine which allays some measure of fears. But yes I hear you. Lets hope they can do something for you.

DIABETIC SNACK RECIPES

Hello everyone. I love these diabetic snacks from weightwatchers so far. As you know I've baked some of them.  Anyway thought I'd pass on as our diets are so restrictive and if folks felt the need to branch out but felt hemmed in by a lack of options.  These don't make my blood glucose go up. I spoke to a dietician about them and she said it was ok but they are listed as diabetic recipes so would be safe. But I have double checked and spoken to dieticians from NDSS several times about what to eat and they have vetoed the recipes I've tried so far from here.
